Birds Queensland Tambo Expedition.

Event starts on May 9th and finishes May 16th, 2026

Our Expedition starting May 9th is on a couple of adjoining properties approximately thirty kilometers

outside of Tambo. Isoroy Shearing Quarters, a recently refurbished eight room bunkhouse is

where we’ll be staying. Plenty of room to park campers caravans and tents. The huge ( original)

shearing shed will be great for show and tell. On Google Earth you will find it here 24°57’50″S

146°10’39”E Since last year the wood fired baker’s oven has been completely rebuilt!!!

Isoroy , off Ward Road heading out SSW from Tambo, is the main homestead. Our most

welcoming host are the owners, Jenny and Jim Skelton. Jenny is nerve centre manager for this

and a number of other properties that the Skelton Family own and operate.

In 2006 a flora and fauna study was undertaken on the property by the EPA , DPI, and Desert

Channels Queensland as part of a “Sustainable Grazing in the Rangelands Case Study”.

Thanks to Melanie Venz, now at the Queensland Herbarium, we have the full reports of those

studies, including the birdlist, and GPS coordinates of the locations they used. . So, we have a

baseline to build on while having heaps of fun.! I am happy to share these with anyone who

would like to see them. Just email me.

You can also search through newsletter from 2025 where there is an article outlining a lot of the basic information prepared for last year’s camp

Looking for expressions of interest to attend , by email, or if you prefer an initial enquiry by phone is fine, any time.

The program is in development, but will be posted after our Son and I go for a recce.
