Eagleby Wetlands

Golden-headed Cisticola, Eagleby Wetalnds, Queensland (Cisticola exilis ) © Andrew Rock

It has been two years since Birds Queensland visited this site so it will be good to go back and see what birds are around. Eagleby Wetlands consists of lagoons and bushland bordered by the Oliver Sports Complex, Albert River and the local sewage treatment works.

Reference to the eBird hotspot https://ebird.org/hotspot/L1250215 shows that 206 species have been recorded at the site. As expected, there are waterbirds, bush birds and raptors so it should be an interesting outing.
If you are coming from the north, exit the Pacific Motorway at Exit 34 and take the second exit at the roundabout (Saverin Road). Follow this road into Logan Street, through the traffic lights and 1.5 km later turn left into Oliver Sports complex (the access road is only marked in recent editions of the UBD). After 200m turn right and right again into the car park. We will meet in the car park at 7.00 a.m.

The site has toilet facilities. Please bring water, sunscreen, insect repellant, a chair and morning tea. Given the time of the year and the site, closed in walking shoes and a hat are advisable.
