Short Talk
Paul King – Invasive Ants, the threat to birdlife and the ecology.
Paul will describe the plan to eradicate invasive ant species by using targeted baits over a limited period. This is preferable to the alternative of using higher toxicity poisons in perpetuity, but community resistance to baiting is a threat to the plan.

Long Talk
Dan Terrington – Plains-wanderers in Queensland: marginal habitat or critical refuge?
This endangered and highly cryptic species is particularly poorly understood in Queensland where records have historically been scarce. Dan’s project incorporates acoustic and thermal survey techniques to investigate questions about the status, habitat requirements and movement patterns of the species. He will be presenting preliminary findings from recent fieldwork and from an acoustic monitoring program at Astrebla Downs National Park, in place since 2018.
