Anstead Bushland Reserve

Anstead Bushland Reserve is in Anstead, a few metres off the Mount Crosby Road. You need to head out along Mogill Road towards Kenmore past Brookfield and then turn right into Mt. Crosby Road. It was initially a quarry and there is evidence of those previous activities but it has now been transformed into a valuable wildlife resource.
There are well maintained paths and a spacious picnic area with toilets.

The area has a total bird count of 201 according to eBird. I have visited the reserve numerous times and, although it was at dusk, have seen both the Powerful and Sooty Owl there. There is also the possibility of seeing the Painted Buttonquail, Little Lorikeet, Buff-rumped Thornbill, White-throated Nightjar, Rose-crowned Fruit Dove and others.
We will meet at 7:30am and the walk be timed to take approximately 3 hours and we will return to the picnic area to have tea and share stories. It would be useful for people to bring camp chairs as we won’t all be able to fit under one picnic canopy.

The exact location of the car park in decimal degrees is: S 27.542810 E 152.861667
See you there.
