Mungarra Reserve

Peaceful Dove, Mungarra Reserve, Petrie, Qld. (Geopelia placida ) © Denise Downham

Mungarra Reserve is situated on the banks of the North Pine River and has a variety of habitats including open recreational areas, remnant eucalypt forest, revegetated native bushland, two small lakes and mangroves. The walk will follow well designated pathways leading through these habitats where we should see a good range of bush birds and some water birds. Last time we visited this reserve in 2023, 64 species were recorded so it will be interesting to compare with this year’s list. Walk length will be approximately 2kms.

Picnic facilities and toilets are available. Please bring water, morning tea, a chair and insect repellent.
Directions: The walk will start from the northern carpark located in the reserve and accessed from the western end of Affleck Avenue.
