Emmaville and surrounds is a favourite camping spot for Birds Queensland, a bit of a distance to get there but always popular due to the wonderful birding available in this region of northern NSW (not too far from Queensland). Our busy itinerary consists of Friday afternoon we’ll be wandering around Emmaville township; Saturday will be a visit to Kings Plains NP; Sunday is a visit to Pindari Dam (don’t forget to bring your scope if you have one); Monday’s a visit to Torrington Conservation Area; Tuesday is a full day wandering south of Emmaville; and then Wednesday is farewell and homeward bound.
You are welcome to come and join us for any part of the camp if you are unable to attend for the whole time. Please book your accommodation directly with the Emmaville Caravan Park (a small quiet spot attached to the showgrounds, with lovely camp sites, great bathrooms but limited kitchen facilities), contact Jackie m 0480387288 or email emmaville.cp@gmail.com. The address is 7-15 Park Road, Emmavillle, NSW, and powered sites are $30 per night and unpowered $20 per night. They are on tank water so bring plenty of water, they also have a large free BBQ we will use so also please bring BBQ food for one night. There’s an opportunity to gather around the campfire on the crispy evenings so please bring some firewood too.
This is a small town, there are a couple of pubs (alternate accommodation if you don’t want to camp), a Mining Museum, and a small general store, but fuel is not always available, so we recommend you fuel up at Deepwater or Tenterfield on the way there.
We’ll be travelling by car a lot, so please plan to car pool and bring some money to tip your driver. If you have a 2-way radio please bring it, they will help the convoy logistics. We look forward to seeing you at Emmaville, please do email or text Andrea advising you are attending.
