Short Talk

Ali Chauvenet – Mental wellbeing benefits of nature: economic value, duration of benefit, equity of access and implications for conservation.

Ali will present research measuring the mental wellbeing benefits for people visiting parks and a framework for the economic valuation of these benefits. Ali will discuss preliminary findings on what drives inequity of access to nature-based wellbeing benefits.

Callan Alexander -Eavesdropping on cryptic species: Are there any Eastern Bristlebirds left in Queensland?

Callan will outline some of the new technologies used to search for cryptic species in remote areas. He will give an overview of the Eastern Bristlebird monitoring project, and an update on their status and habitat in Queensland. He will also discuss ways of applying these techniques to other species and projects, including the Powerful Owl and Albert’s Lyrebird.
