Colleges Crossing, Brisbane River

Directions: From the north side of the Brisbane River,
take Moggill Road then turn off to Mt Crosby on the Mt Crosby Road and follow
the same route as to Lake Manchester but rather than turning right drive through
Mt Crosby and turn left. Continue down the Mt Crosby Road for 2km until you
meet the Brisbane River. The low-level bridge and causeway over the river is
Colleges Crossing. From south of the Brisbane River, turn off the Warrego Highway
into Mt Crosby Road. Follow Mt Crosby Road on the northern side of the Warrego
2.6km in the opposite direction to Ipswich CBD until you reach Colleges Crossing.

The major parking areas, picnic facilities, toilets and café are on the
upstream/western side of Mt Crosby Road (on right approaching from north and
on left if approaching from south).

The large lagoon above the causeway always has a number of water birds
that can be seen from the viewing platform at the western end of the picnic
area as well as from paths and lawns along the shore. From the viewing platform,
raptors can also be seen. A walk westward from that area goes over a pedestrian
causeway and along a well vegetated spit where a variety of bush birds can be seen.
