Birds Queensland has visited Bellthorpe Stays four times, the last one being a weekend camp in 2020. Bellthorpe Stays is in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, almost 600 metres ASL, with nearest shops and facilities in Maleny or Woodford, both 30 minutes away. The property is over 400 acres, with at least 6 different habitats including open paddocks, wet sclerophyll, rainforest, palm gullies, riparian and open eucalypt and shares a boundary with Bellthorpe National Park. Bellthorpe Stays – eBird Hotspot lists over 140 bird species for the property.
Accommodation at Bellthorpe Stays will be either in cabins or camping. Cabin accommodation will be shared with other participants either in your own room ($180 for 1 or 2 nights) or twin share in a room (friend or couple, $150 each, for 1 or 2 nights), with up to 12 places available. Camping will be available for the BQ camp (not normally permitted) in a number of locations using shared facilities, unpowered ($20 per head for 1 or 2 nights) or a couple of powered sites will be available ($60 for 1 or 2 nights), but small trailers/vans only.
The property is at the end of Willett Rd, which is 3 km west of the Bellthorpe Community Hall. Google maps will get you to Bellthorpe Stays. In the area, Telstra is reasonable, occasional Optus signal, no Vodafone, but there is free high speed Wi-Fi in the resource centre (the Old Dairy Shed) at Bellthorpe Stays.
