Kye is the recently appointed chairperson of the Birds Queensland Rarities Appraisal Committee (BQRAC), a group that has been active in Queensland for several decades.Many people have never heard of BQRAC, or don’t realise it’s still active. Max Radvan – Birds of Hidden Vale: four years of bird surveys in a protected nature refuge of SEQ
Hidden Vale Research Station is a large property of more than 4,500 hectares, most of it Nature Refuge, with a diverse mix of remnant vegetation, regenerating bushland, grassland and modified landscapes. Over the past four years, Max and his team have surveyed its birds two to three times each year, building a growing dataset on which birds use Hidden Vale and how their occurrence varies across space and time. This talk will provide an overview of the property, the survey program, and early findings from the data.
