Greenwood Lakes, Forestdale

Pale-headed Rosella, Oakey, Qld. (Platycercus adscitus ) © Mel Stewart

Greenwood Lakes is an old sand mining site which has been partly revegetated.  It is a combination of bush and a water area which is part of the Oxley Creek catchment and where some interesting birds can be seen from time to time.  The eBird bird list for the site can be seen at https://ebird.org/australia/hotspot/L970768.  Over the winter months, some of the altitudinal migrants such as Golden Whistler and Rose Robin are likely at this site.  Some of the walk is in shade with patches of sun so we can warm up.

We will meet at the small park at the junction of Paradise Road and Forestdale Drive, Forestdale UBD Map 239 C 17/18 at 7.00 a.m.  Parking is roadside. The closest toilets are in a park in Lincoln Green Drive off Forestdale Drive.  Morning tea will be at this park.  Bring morning tea, a chair, water, personal hand sanitiser, hat and sunscreen and wear closed in shoes.

Please email Rae at the address above to register for the walk.
